CHA - GCD Studios booth

As I reflect on CHA I am filled with excitement and anticipation for next year.  I have been to many trade shows in my life and CHA is a different animal.  The camaraderie among everyone is amazing.  I have never heard so much laughter, people helping each other out and the sharing of ideas among attendees and exhibitors.  A very good feeling.
Here it is!  Photos of the amazing booth!  The team did such a great job!!
The fresh flowers were all over the booth - a very nice touch!
Bonjour!

Sweet Tooth
Country Charm scrapbook pages and cards
Flower Child scrap book pages and cards.
The make and take booth the first day-making smash books!  It was crazy busy and so much fun!
One of my favorite parts of the booth was the photo booth section!  You pick a prop and pose.
The talented design team!  Donna Salazar, Heide Sonboul, Heather Tozzi and me.  What a great group of ladies!
Hard to believe it was just a year ago when I approached Kent at the show.
From last years post:  "Sunday I went to CHA. I didn't really know what to expect but I gotta tell you....some exciting things came out of my visit. Met some great people and am really excited about some future projects. I will keep you posted."  It is fun to read this and think of all that has happened since.

This past Saturday was FAM - Fatto a Mano.  I was so excited to be one of the participating artists.  It was so much fun meeting new artists and reconnecting with artists I haven't seen in 3 years.  Below are a few photos from the show.

Finally set up before the crowd arrives.

FAM: Fatto a Mano

I have arrived in Ohio and I must say it is good to be back.  I am really excited about celebrating Thanksgiving in my home state-my favorite holiday!  I am also very excited to be in Seattle in 2 weeks!  And, I will be participating in a show that I use to sell in before I left for Hungary!

For 3 years in a row I participated in FAM: Fatto a Mano (Italian for Made by Hand).  When I found out I was going to be in Seattle I contacted Roberta, the organizer, and asked if I could join the group for this years show.  She was excited to have me back.

Come join me and the FAM artists for an afternoon where gift and art come together! And check out our blog to learn about the other talented artists that will be at the show!

I will be selling greeting cards, notebooks, calendars, scrapbooking papers and fat quarter fabric swatches!

Printsource

Next week is PRINTSOURCE! I am happy to have worked with Group Four Design Studio for 2 years now! They will have a TON of work for sale so be sure to stop by take a peak.

Actually, I just reached a personal goal of creating 500 pieces of art for Group Four! The past 2 years have been productive. I thoroughly enjoy working with Michael. He is constantly pushing me as an artist to try different styles, strengthen my color stories and think outside the box. It is a great partnership. Thanks Michael for all your support and encouragement!

All the black and white paintings I have been posting over the past two years are just the "sketches" that eventually get scanned into my computer and reworked, colored up and sent to Group Four. I have kept all those paintings and am thinking it may be time to revisit some of them and finish them a real paintings....I will keep you posted.

NYC: Surtex and The High Line

It is hard to believe that Surtex was just last week. It was awesome. My first time attending and it was fun and exhausting! I worked the Group Four booth for 2 days and learned a ton! It was great to be able to hear client comments and really get a feeling for what people are looking for when they buy art. I have returned back to Budapest with inspiration and motivation (two things that I was having trouble with when I left For the States a month ago.)

The Group Four crew taking a break after a mad rush of people.
It is always great to see my friends of Sisters Gulassa, Cyrille and Lisa. Lise lives in California and Cyril in Vienna. I am determined to visit Cyrille soon-we live so close to one another!
I am thinking of having a booth myself next year. I am truly torn. Have you had a booth at Surtex? Was is it good for you?

Before the show I spent 3 days shopping, walking and enjoying NYC! I really love that town. I have been wanting to visit The High Line the past few visits. This time I got there.

The High Line was originally built in the 1930's to life dangerous freight trains off the streets. Section 1 of the High Line is open as a public park. It is fantastic! The way they have kept the train tracks and have integrated it into the park is genius!

Surtex and The National Stationery Show

I leave for NYC today! Woohoo!

I will be participating in 2 HUGE shows Sunday!

First, Surtex. It is a huge show offering both licensed and non licensed artwork. I have been represented by Group Four for about a year and a half. (They sell my non licensed art-over 400 pieces!) I love working with them! They have a solid group of artists who pump out some pretty amazing stuff! And a good variety of artwork for paper products, clothing, kidswear and women's. If you are at Surtex-check them out!

All artwork on the below advert is from yours truly.
Second show is the National Stationery Show. I have been collaborating with Ipop for over 2 years and have a number of magnet products and art drop necklaces with them. There are 2 new collections being launched at the show! Stop by and ask for my collections!
If you are interested in collaborating with me, send me an email at diane@dianekappa.com or call me at 206.905.9677. I will be in NY until the 19th and can meet up at any time.
