i heart plaids

Greetings from Ohio!

I am doing the Ohio tour, spending time visiting with family and friends!  Living out of suitcases and trying to work and play is making me a little stressed.  My poor mother-in-law got to experience a very stressed out daughter-in-law yesterday.  She was so helpful though, helping me go through boxes that we left here 4 years ago.  We unpacked, repacked and she drove me all over town so I could run all my errands.  She is a life saver and so unbelievably patient!  I feel so very lucky to have such great in-laws.

Did I tell you I will be in NYC for Printsource?  I will be working the Group Four booth the first day of the show and then I meeting with clients on day two and three.  It is turning out that the NY trip is going to be busy but very exciting!  I will be meeting two new clients!  The projects are very exciting and I am anxious to share the details but as always, it will have to wait.

For now, enjoy my new design, "i heart plaid", for Society6.  I love the army green colors with the pop of hot pink!  You can check out the designs here.

I hope all my US friends are staying cool.  A little shout out to my Budapest friends-I miss you!

See you back here in a few days.

Big decisions. Big move. Lots of tissues.

I have BIG news.  We are moving!  Right now! Seriously.  The movers are here at this moment!  This has been the news I have been hinting at for months now.  I could not bring myself to share it until now because it is with such mixed emotions that we have made this decision.
Let me start by saying I love Budapest, I love Hungary.  I love the architecture, the rich folk and craft culture.  The people, the food-oh the food...  I love living in a foreign country, the challenges and the rewards of accomplishing the simplest thing like getting a smile from the lady at the market when you finally pronounce the word for peach correctly ("barack" - it is not pronounced the way you think).  I love the friends I have made, the trips I have taken and the many ways that living in Hungary have inspired me and fed my creativity.  ...need to grab a tissue...

If there are so many wonderful things about living in Hungary, why leave?  My business is growing, and with clients mostly in the USA, it is time to focus on taking my business to the next level.  I want to be able to travel to more shows in the US and spend face time with clients.  Yes, I could have done that from Europe but in the end it made more sense to be stateside.

I am certain that we will return to living overseas-mark my words!  I see Steven and I traveling the world together exploring some places for a week or two and other places for a few years.  We thrive in foreign environments-as a couple and as individuals.  I am already looking forward to our next foreign adventure together!

So, it is wish great sadness and excitement that I end this chapter and start a new one...in Seattle.

the goods - ready to ship

We lived in Seattle for 12 years before moving to Hungary.  So we have friends waiting for us and a house that we are excited to inhabit again....and my studio is fantastic!!

It is exciting moving back.  I think it will be a bit different.  I feel I am a bit different...a bit more fearless, a bit wiser and a bit more independent.  I feel my future is open and ready for me to take charge. woohoo!

I think it is fitting to end this post with one of my favorite quotes:
"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving there safely and unmarked, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, totally worn out and screaming wooo hoooo what a ride!"
