a treasure

Do you remember back in September 2012 when I shared with you pictures of my grandma making a quilt out of my Bonjour! fabric?  It is complete!!  The Quilting Loft in Seattle did the final long arm quilting and they did a fantastic job. Here few up close photos. This is such a treasure.
The reverse side of the quilt is the tan fabric from the Bonjour! collection. I think the contrast of neutrals on one side and the brights on the other side are a good mix.

Thank you to my Grandma for making such a special gift for me!

Kleinfeld Paper

Has it really been over a month since my last post?  That is crazy!  Well, february was packed with designing new collections for Surtex, thinking up booth ideas and drawing drawing drawing!  On top of it all I had a terrible two weeks of computer problems with my apple-yes, apple!  I should share with you how terrible my experience was with the apple store near my house but I don't want to give them any more energy...lets just say 6 trips to the store, 2 weeks of no computer, crying, more crying and many martinis later, I am up and working and have backed everything up to a cloud.  Yes, my whole hard drive.  If you haven't done this yet, I recommend Carbonite.  It is so easy that I didn't believe it was backing up until I went to to restore a file.

Switching to happier topics....

It dawned on me that I never shared with you one of my exciting new clients!!  Back in August when I was in NYC, I spent a day at Kleinfelds with a handful of other designers. (Yes, the same Kleinfelds as the TV show "Say Yes to the Dress".) The store was closed to the public, we met the owners, got a full tour and were given free reign to explore the store with our cameras and sketchpads to get inspired to design invitations for Kleinfeld Paper!  It was an amazing day!  Hearing the history of the company, the owners, the building - totally inspiring!! Kleinfeld Paper has launched and if you haven't seen the site click here.  There are many online invitation companies out there, but few that offer letterpress and raised ink!

All my designs come in multiple colorways.  To view everything I have designed, click here, select "all wedding invitations", scroll to the bottom, select my name, all my designs will pop up.  I have to admit - being at the store made me want to get married again.  I saw some amazing dresses the second image ("touch of folk") would be my invite:)

Another project has launched last month with another new client!
This time photo albums and journals!

I love the hot pink ribbon.

you can not tell from the photo but the paper around the edge is silver - nice touch I think!

drum roll please....

I will have a booth at SURTEX!  I finally decided to do it! After years of clients and friends in the industry encouraging me to participate, I finally decided this is the year! SURTEX is the tradeshow to sell and license art and design. It is the ideal show for me and this year seems like the right time to just DO IT! Over the next few months, I will be designing my booth, creating new collections and designing marketing material.  All the while, creating artwork for my NY rep and reaching out to current clients to grow my business with them.  It is going to be a crazy couple of months! But I am ready!

new year - new designs with Society6

New year, new designs.  I cleaned up my Society6 page on January 1. I deleted most of the designs.  "Why?", you ask?  I like the idea of limited edition. So, this year I will be doing the same.  Every few months I will be deleting designs.  I will be adding new designs every 2 weeks (more often when there is a special request).  So, if you like a design..buy it now:)

Yes, I take special requests! Do you see a design on my website or on another one of my designs (scrapbook paper for example) and you want it on an iphone or laptop cover? Email me what you want and I will see what I can do.  The three designs below were requests I had at CHA. All three of these are also on scrapbook paper!  What do you think?

GCD Studio at CHA

I am back form CHA! A whirlwind of a weekend! I am exhausted and full of inspiration!! I met a few fans:), some fantastic editors and a ton of wonderful friendly customers! I was so proud to be working in this booth! The theme of the booth was "Tea Party". Tea cups and plates, candies and flowers decorated the booth!  I kept thinking in my head, "I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date!"

My Nostalgia wall!
I love getting to the show and seeing what the scrapbook and card
designers have created with my designs! They are so creative!
